Chief Jaime Ayala 

President

Jaime Ayala was  appointed to the position of Edinburg Police Chief in October of 2021. An Edinburg native and a graduate of Edinburg High

School he rose through the ranks at the Arlington, TX. Police Department where he retired with more than 32 years of service.

Chief Ayala holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications from the University of Texas at Arlington, Master of Science Degree in Communication Studies from Texas Christian University and a Master Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Chief Ayala is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Major City Chiefs Police Executive Leadership Institute and the FBI National Executive

Institute. He served as an adjunct professor at TCU for over 5 years.

Chief Ayala serves as the President of the South Texas Police Chiefs Association and was recently appointed to serve on the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement’s Minimum Standards Committee asthe Assistant Presiding Officer.

Professional accomplishments include "Operation Spotlight" which was a top finalist for the Herman

Goldstein Award in 2008. He led efforts to reduce human trafficking during Super Bowl XLV and was

extensively involved in planning aspects for major events held at AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Park in Arlington.

This includes two World Series, a Super Bowl, and numerous college championship games. Chief Ayala was awarded the State of Texas Medal of Valor and is a proven leader with a wealth of experience. He was the lead law-enforcement officer working with the White House and the Secret Service to coordinate the security detail for President Obama’s visit to Dallas Texasin 2016 for the Dallas Memorial honoring the Dallas fallen officers.
